Suquet de Peix in Roses
ROSES / CATALONIA / SPAIN:
As every year, a number of shops offer a fish stew, the "Suquet de Peix", in October. This year, 16 restaurants take part and offer local delicacies. The basis of every recipe is - of course - fish and potatoes.
Originally this was a pure food of the fishermen and they cooked the fish stew on a regular basis either on the ship or in one of the bays. Over time, "Suquet de Peix" has become a Mediterranean specialty and is now available in various preparations around the Mediterranean. The original, however, comes from the local fishermen and the restaurants that offer the stew keep to a large extent to the original recipe.
The participating restaurants are: Bitákora, Ca la Valeria, Caltre, El Mirador del Almadrava, Falconera, Flor de Lis, l'Àncora, La Cala, Norat Dia, Pika Pika Beach, Punto 21, Roc Fort, Rome, Santa Llúcia, El Trull and Tramonti Platja.
The offer of the fish stew is one of the initiatives of the town hall in Roses, to fill the place even outside the season with guests. The Suquet week is truly a great opportunity, because a dish - and that's our very own subjective opinion - is definitely worth a visit to a restaurant and if you like fish you should not miss this opportunity. The action will continue until the 27th of October
