Carnival procession in Roses with up to 4,000 participants

ROSES / COSTA BRAVA / CATALONIA: This year the Carnival in Roses lasts from February 20th to 24th. This year, 56 foot structures, 52 bodies and 3,400 “extras” will take part, so that there will be a total of around 4,000 participants. These will probably only all take part on Friday evening, because experience has shown that the heroes get tired on Saturday and anyway on Sunday. Then there are gaps in the train, which may not look nice, but is probably due to active alcohol consumption. Just for info:

While the "Lindwurm" moves through Roses, the participants are strictly prohibited from drinking alcohol and - you can hardly believe it - almost all carnivalists stick to it.

After the trains, active jecke and spectators can go to the marquee on Plaça Frederik Rahola or to the mobile disco at the Pavelló Municipal d’Esports.

Of course, as every year, the “sardine” is “buried” as a sign of the end of the carnival - what happens in turn with one or the other funny drink, there is a big firework display and the current carnival king is still holding a moratorium.

One more thing: because of the moves, the beach promenade is partially closed on the four days, namely on Friday from 5 p.m., on Saturday from 12 p.m., on Sunday from 8 a.m. and on Monday from 12 p.m.
