Province Girona has 52,000 hectares of natural parks
GIRONA / CATALONIA / SPAIN:
There are currently seven natural parks in the province of Girona with a total area of 52,625.41 hectares. Five of them - the Aiguamolls de l'Empordà; Cap de Creus; El Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter; l'Albera and the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone - are located entirely in the province and the Montseny and Cadí-Moixeró Parks are located in part in the local area. An eighth park will be added soon. The Ripollés protects the Ter and Freser areas, and covers an area of approximately 12,500 hectares, so the area sooner or later has more than 65,000 hectares of protected area. In addition to these areas are the maritime regions such as the Cap de Creus and the Medes Islands, which once again cover 3,000 hectares.
