Les forêts absorbent le CO2 - Gérone à l'avant-garde

PROVINCE DE GIRONA / CATALOGNE / ESPAGNE:

sur les quelque 500 millions de tonnes de CO2 rejetées chaque année par l’Espagne dans l’atmosphère, au moins 65 millions de tonnes de dioxyde de carbone sont absorbées par les forêts et rendues inoffensives. Ceci est le résultat d'une étude scientifique qui a suivi l'évolution des forêts ces dernières années. Les provinces de La Corogne, Lugo, Burgos, Soria et Gérone se classent au premier rang. L’Espagne possède 13 millions d’hectares de forêts (1 hectare = 10 000 mètres carrés). En utilisant ce que l'on appelle la photosynthèse, les arbres absorbent le CO2 appelé poison de serre et le transforment dans le tronc, les racines et les feuilles. Alors que l'agriculture en Espagne décline lentement mais régulièrement, les scientifiques espèrent qu'au cours des prochaines décennies, de grandes étendues de forêts seront occupées. Les forêts particulièrement jeunes absorbent les gaz à effet de serre en grande quantité.
